Main Task- Shooting our final Scene
The following pictures were taken on the last day of filming. That day we went back to our locations and shot the improvements that I and my peers thought we should improve on. Personally, I was really happy that it was last time ever we have to shoot anything because it’s been a role coaster while filming, as the weather hasn’t been so good and getting the tripod and camera was a huge mission on its own.
There were only four of us at the time as one of our team members were away.
Lastly the scene that Chloe’s in (Alicia’s best friend), where she’s on the phone to Alicia; we decided to re-shoot it at Nandos because it makes it look more real and is also surrounded in a natural setting. Overall it was an enormous achievement and everything went according to our plan. Now we just need to edit these scenes, mix and match them in our clip and include our credits to our final draft.

Main Task- DVD Cover Ideas & Inspirations
I decided to sketch a few ideas that could possibly be included in our DVD front cover. It is essential that our DVD cover is exclusive to other products in the film market right now. As by creating a unique and outstanding cover, will then cause our sales from our target market to occur and increase.

Main Task- Flashbacks
Using flashbacks to explain something from the past in two minutes was the ideal thing to do in my main task. By using flashbacks the viewers can understand our film from the beginning. For example, at the start of the scene, you’ll see our main character Alicia panicking hysterically, but the audience won’t know why. So by adding in flashbacks the audience will get to see what caused her to get into this situation. However, by doing this it opened a lot of options on how we were going to edit this and make it a lot scarier with different editing techniques, for example, changing the contrast, colour, sounds and transitions. In addition we could use a wide range of camera shots to create the flashbacks. For Example, Long Shot, Close Ups, Extreme Close Ups, Over Shoulder Shot, Medium Shot etc…
Additionally by including dialogue and Diegetic sound in our outside club flashback scene, it helped us play around with the sound when coming to editing it. However, we wanted the scene to look realistic. But unfortunately the time we chose to go and film at the club, was not a busy time to go, as there weren’t many people there. So we decided to use our film crew in the background as extras laughing enjoying clubbers; this made it more practical and ordinary. Finally, before filming the club scene we had to ask the manager to switch the outside lights on, as without it the lighting was quiet awful.

Main Task- Cinematography / Mise-en-Scene
For our first draft in our main task we have defiantly used reasonable locations for example:
The Regal – We used this location as it makes our Mise-en-Scene more practical and fits in with our target audiences’ satisfaction needs. Although from my research usually parties scene our showed or set as a house party. But we decided to do it outside a club, as in this way we had to just inform the manger of the club and not half of the neighbours on the street. Additionally we used a long shot when filming this scene so that the viewers can view and know want is going on. Overall by doing this it gave us a chance to add in non-diegetic sounds when coming to editing it, for example, street noise, cars driving past, people talking in the background etc….

Main Task- Second day of Filming
Second day of Filming:
The second day we decided to film the phone call scene, Alicia’s panicking scene with killer in the background and also when the killer strangles Alicia. We started filming the phone call scene with Alicia’s friend in it; the location was set in Cheney School , in one of the drama block classes. In Spite of this, we moved Alicia to a different location in Cheney School to film her response to the friends’ phone call. After that we went to the top playground of Cheney School where we filmed Alicia’s strangling scene and filmed the panicking scene nearby the same location.
Difficulties
These are the following difficulties we found while filming some of our chosen scenes:
Weather condition (really cold)
Figures got to cold that caused some issues when working with the tripod, as you couldn’t move it without it shaking and moving.
No encounter’s of unwanted people or distractions occurred; although some problems came up with our main character that was meant to be ‘Aimee Moynaan’ and therefore had to substitute someone else to take her place.
This caused many problems, as our actors that we used for the first draft of our film had to learn the script on the day of filming suddenly.
Except while we were filming our scenes with the killer, the weather was very bad as it was heavily raining, but this went in our bounce as it made these scenes more realistic because now when it came to editing we did not have to add in non-diagetic sounds to make it look natural, also unsurprisingly it messed up the characters make up and hair too.
However this meant we had to take extra care of all the electronic equipment to not let any water got on to them.
Improvements
- When filming our final draft we will have to make sure the quietly of the tripod is a lot better then the one we’ve got, so it can be used a lot more steadier
- We will check the weather in advance to not cause any damage to the filming equipment if in danger of the rain.
- Lastly make sure all the cast members have memorised there line to save time when come to filming.

Main Task- First day of Filming
First day of Filming:
On the first day we decided to film Alicia’s panic scene, some shoots of the moon, clubs scene and finally the walk through the park while she’s going home. We headed straight to South Park were we got three of the scene’s filmed and then went down to Cowley. Where we first argued over which club to film at and finally decided on The Regal.
Difficulties
These are the following difficulties we found while filming some of our chosen scenes:
Weather condition (really cold)
Tripod was really stiff to manoeuvre that caused some of the footage to look shake
Many distractions were encountered whilst filming e.g. Groups of unwanted students or the general pedestrians
While filming the scene where she’s walking home, there was a lot of mud in the park, so when filming we had to be well aware and make sure that it was safe for the crew and actors/actresses
When we got back we went through all the footage, but unfortunately the moon scene was unbalanced; so as a result we decided to re-shoot that scene once again before we headed off home.
Improvements
These are the following improvements we found while filming some of our chosen scenes:
When filming our final film footage we will make sure that the tripod was stable and manoeuvred properly
Change the time of filming and set it to when there less distractions from the general public
Use different route that are less muddy so that it’s safer
Check weather conditions before filming
Make our equipment visible to anyone who walks passed so they won’t damage it by mistake
Have someone to watch the equipment while others are filming or acting
Main Task- Auditions
For our main task we decided to hold auditions for our characters so that we could chose the finest actor/actresses. We held audition after school, in Cheney School and in one of the drama classes. Though, as we had a great response we had to end up short listing them, as we were in the search for the best actor for our film that would easily meet up with our target audiences needs.
However finding the correct actor for Alicia’s role was essential but difficult, as we had a lot of expectations, for example, someone who could learn script lines quickly, who could act very well and someone who was accessible at all times.

Maliqha Nisar
When choosing our actors/actresses our expectation for them taking part in our production was high. During the start of our production we had chosen another actress to act as Alicia. However, Aimee Moynan was fired because she was never available when we wanted her to film our main task. So with the deadline coming closure we decided to hire Maliqha Nisar as Alcia.

Noura Aggwarni
We also decided to give the role of Alicia's best Freind to Noura Aggwarni.
We also decided to give the role of Alicia's best Freind to Noura Aggwarni.

Hassam Mohammed
We also decided to give the role of the stalker/killer toHassam Mohammed , But because of him having a similar problem of not being available at any of the filming times. I decided to hand over this role to one of my group members, so Moses Kimuyu played this role instead.

Usually when a real film gets produced the producers normally advertise the job which can be costly; they also short-list and provide them with a script. So we decided to put poster out all around Cheney School, the response we had was good, even though the actor/actresses weren't gone get anything in return.
These are some images that were taken while the audition was going on:

Main Task- Practise Filming scene 3 from 'The Whisperer'
In order to gain higher marks in my main task, we decided to film a practise scene from our film. We choose scene three that would be 30 seconds long, in this scene Alicia is making her way back home walking in the woods; after the call she made to her friend for a lift but got rejected. It was filmed in daylight, nearby the school. We also didn’t use our main actress, as she was absent but will be using her in real film scenes shots.
Improvements that could be made are using a tripod when filming; this is because the film would be less wobbly. When coming to editing we have to make sure match on action is edited precisely. And finally use a variety of shots and distances.
Casting:

Mahilqha Nisar as Alicia

Main Task- Production Company
When deciding my production company’s name, I thought I do some research on it first. I decided to look at some production company logo’s that are in the media market right now; that have succeeded with achievement and fame.
After researching, the conclusion I came to, was that most succeeded production companies had short and snappy production company name’s and there logo was very simple and eye catching. For example, Abc’s production company’s logo was very straightforward with three letter, in a bold font, in a dark circle shaped ball. However, production companies like Warner Bros or DreamWorks logo were very basic just like Abc’s production. But just had a background, looked 3D or was just more creatively designed.
As a whole, I decided to run along the idea of having a straightforward name and logo, and in my group we came up with the name ‘123 Production’. This was because we didn’t want something full of twists and turns, but something simple that would get recognised very quickly like the above production companies I have mentioned.

Main Task- Costumes and Props
These are the following costume ideas that we possibly will integrate into our main task:
Firstly for our killer we thought it would be best if he dressed up all in dark black clothing and got accessorized with a long black trench coat and hat. This is because it would fit in well with the stereotypical view that usually gets shown in films. However this character will be wearing hie collars up and the hat will be covering his face; this is because it would give the viewers scare and secrecy, cause of the unknown identity that is getting covered by the hat.
For the party scene where both female characters walk out the club. We decided to have them dressed as outgoing but not over the top. For example some decant looking heels and dress or top with leggings and some accessories to go overall with the whole outfit.
However the people that will be in the background would be wearing casual cloths similar to the below image. We will have to keep our eyes open and watch out for the public clothing to make sure they fit in with the scene, as while we film our seen they will be in the background as well as our location and everything has to add up overall.
